A Message From The Sarnia Braves' President
Submitted By Admin on Saturday, May 30, 2020
Dear Sarnia Braves Parents/Players:

I hope this update finds you and your family healthy and safe.

As per the notice below Baseball Ontario has extended their shutdown until June 15. This means all in person baseball activities are still prohibited. The Sarnia Braves are shutdown by this action, as well we do not have insurance as long as Baseball Ontario is shutdown.

The provincial government allowed outdoor parks to be opened last week but organized group sports are still not permitted. Anyone using the parks must follow the guidelines – 2-meter physical distancing, groups of no more than 5, frequent hand washing, stay home if displaying symptoms.

Since the Sarnia Braves are shutdown that means anyone using the parks cannot use any Braves equipment (including that at the parks).

As the mayor said “abuse it and lose it”. Let’s stay safe and wait this out. I do not want to see anyone in the Braves family to be needlessly affected by this.

Below is a memo from Allan Ebert, the Braves treasurer, WCBA president and Baseball Ontario vice-president. Please note what he has to say:

"
As you are likely aware, the OBA is still hoping that we are able to have an abbreviated baseball season.  They have extended the suspension of in-person activities until June 15.  The Board of Management will meet again June 11 to decide the status of the suspension, and will do so in two week increments going forward.  Their decision will be based on provincial and federal requirements.  Local associations will also have to consider their municipal requirements and the recommendations of local health officials.  In the meantime, the OBA is working on return to practice and return to play protocols, so that the protocols will be ready to implement should we be able to resume in-person activities.  A reminder that we have no insurance coverage for in-person activities until the OBA lifts their suspension.
