Registration Information

To maintain a strong and viable baseball program, the Sarnia Braves Minor Baseball Association will require each player and their family to fulfill the following commitments over the season.  These commitments are necessary to offset the cost of diamond and umpire fees, uniforms and equipment, tournament registration fees, league fees, insurance costs, etc.…Player registration fees alone will not cover these costs.

We will also be continuing with the volunteer hours program which was very successful in past seasons in getting people out and involved with a variety of Sarnia Braves baseball events.  We want all players and their parents aware of these commitments prior to the start of the season so the expectations are clear.

The executive has continued with the fundraising throughout the winter with bingos and meat raffles. However, each player will be responsible for the following:

Rookie     - $250 registration fee + $200 cash calendars + post-dated volunteer cheque - $400 each
Mosquito  - $375 registration fee + $200 cash calendars + post-dated volunteer cheque - $400 each
Peewee    - $375 registration fee + $200 cash calendars + post-dated volunteer cheque - $400 each
Bantam    - $425 registration fee + $200 cash calendars + post-dated volunteer cheque - $400 each
Midget     - $750 registration fee + $200 cash calendars + post-dated volunteer cheque - $400 each

Sell the calendar, perform your volunteer hours and the cost to you is your registration fee only.

Please bring three separate cheques.

Registration – one cheque for the appropriate age group fee due at the time of registration.

Cash Calendars – cash, cheque or post-dated cheques for June 1st if necessary.  Total per player is 10 calendars @ $20.00/calendar = $200.00 required at registration.

Volunteer Hours Cheques – One cheque for $400.00 per family, post-dated for September 1 for volunteer hours. Cheques will be cashed if no volunteer hours are recorded.

PLEASE NOTE:  Funds for registration, cash calendars and volunteer hours are due on registration day which is typically in early May.  A date will be announced to all teams and posted on the web site.  Once cash calendar tickets are sold, just return the ticket stubs to your team representative prior to June 1st – First day of the draw! Check the website for calendar winners and other important Braves information all season long.

Receipts for registration will be available to anyone who needs one from Allan Ebert (treasurer) at time of registration.  Please be prepared with the following information:  player’s name, date of birth, fee paid, and parents name that paid the registration.

A small number of volunteers are needed for registration night.  Volunteers will be on a first come first serve basis and will be contacted if they are needed.  See the web site for volunteer opportunities.

The Sarnia Braves Minor Baseball Association is once again running the parent volunteer hours program.  This program has been very successful in the past increasing the number of volunteers needed to help Sarnia Braves sponsored activities run successfully through the summer.

Once again, each family will be required to commit to 6 hours of volunteer time.  One postdated cheque for September 1st will be required from each family and will be cashed at the end of the season if no volunteer hours are completed.  One cheque of $400 would equal six hours of volunteer time. Cheques are required at the time of registration.

There is an exemption from the volunteer hours program for rostered coaches (up to four per team) and the Baseball Mom. Score keeping and pitch count at your son’s regular league games do not count towards your volunteer hours as the program is designed to assist events and activities hosted by the Sarnia Braves Minor Baseball Association and not any one team.

The main event of our volunteer program is the Midget Wood Bat tournament which takes place on the second or third weekend in June where parents can sign up for score keeping, pitch count, bar-b-que and concessions during the three-day tourney.

Other opportunities such as helping at registration are available on a first come first server basis and will be announced on our web site and through your team officials.
